倫理的建築創造　The Ethical Creation of Architecture

私は、哲学者でも思想家でもない。

一介の建築士だ。

 

建築士の仕事は、人の命と財産を守ることにある。

だから私は倫理を学ぶ。

それは、私自身の理（ことわり）と、建物を利用する人の理、

そしてそこに住まう人々の理をすり合わせ、理解し合うためだ。

そうしなければ、どんな理想も現実には叶わない。

 

財産を守るということは、建物の耐久性を確保することに留まらない。

それは、その建物に付随するもの、周囲の環境、社会、そして文化や伝統、知的財産までも含む。

建築とは、人の営みの総和を受け止める器であり、

人々が「当たり前に暮らす」ための舞台装置なのだ。

 

その「当たり前」を支えるためには、

私自身が倫理でなければならない。

倫理という言葉を外から学ぶのではなく、

自らの存在を通して倫理を生きる。

 

この想いは、私の中で静かに燃える使命感として、

いつも心地よく私にまとわりついている。

I am neither a philosopher nor a thinker.
I am merely an architect.

The role of an architect is to protect human lives and property.
That is why I study ethics.
To reconcile and understand my own principles, those of the people who use the buildings,
and the values of the communities who live there.
Without this mutual understanding, no ideal can ever become reality.

Protecting property is not limited to ensuring the durability of a structure.
It includes everything attached to that building—its surrounding environment, society,
as well as culture, tradition, and intellectual property.
Architecture is a vessel that embraces the entirety of human activity,
and a stage that allows people to live their lives "as a matter of course."

To support that very "matter of course,"
I myself must become ethics.
Not learning ethics from the outside,
but living ethics through my very being.

This conviction quietly burns within me as a sense of mission,
always gently enveloping me with comfort.
